Hello,
A Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition server shutdown unexpectedly and when
it booted back up went through a CHKDSK repairing some corruption.
Ever since the server booted back up, the Windows Firewall service will not
start; crashes with the following error:
========================
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7023
Date: 5/17/2009
Time: 8:29:20 AM
User: N/A
Computer: XXXX
Description:
The Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service terminated
with the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it
has no enabled devices associated with it.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
========================
I've confirmed all dependencies are running and not disabled.
Below are the last Windows Updates that were applied, this started happening
on the 13th.
=============
Windows Server 2003 Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - May 2009
(KB890830) Wednesday, May 13, 2009 Windows Update
Windows Server 2003 Update for Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View List
for Windows Server 2003 (KB969497) Wednesday, May 13, 2009 Windows Update
Windows Server 2003 Internet Explorer 8 for Windows Server 2003 Sunday, May
10, 2009 Windows Update
=============
I'm not sure how else to trace why the service is crashing, and how to fix
this.
Any insight is appreciated!
